SOMETIMES FRIENDS DON'T WANT TO KNOW.

I've watched how you respond and how you've reacted,
On a disservice a friend's deliberately caused,
Fierce to preserve the bond no say; why she's acted,
Honour, honesty and love come steeped in high accord.

Hurt has shown that helpful deeds are one-sided,
Seems your friend's motives are for personal gain,
And as you experience let downs, subtle slights, and ways
misguided,
Calmly you deflect the arrows of disdain, rants and raves.

Undermining and pressing buttons through her lying,
And knowing with those cards it paves the way,
In agendas bent on being forced with paranoia blinding,
Threatening to sacrifice all for an ill imagined crave.

I watch you defend a friend who causes heartache,
As she fuels self-serving wants to justify her ends,
Insecurities for power and importance boost a fervour,
Dare to be a blockage in plans spoiled at her expense.

Could it be she doesn't know what she's doing?
Or that she's cunning; getting her way through willful intent,
Without any idea of your honest care, loyal heart pursuing,
And emotional time you give to her that's spent.
