3000 years ago,
the consequences? when he said;
"Here, We Are A Nation," In a territorial illegal zone,
Where hatred is law and fair play brings dread,
The symbols of power create nothing but unrest,
"Built a house on every hill," a leader recently cried,
And so they did, but everyday a dark cloud hangs over
innocent lives,
As each decade passes by the struggle is stronger,
Making the chasm for togetherness a little wider,
And its roots and many branches grow even deeper,
So that there soon can be no solution, no resolve,
Generations keep the war bubbling
until the region has its dark night of the soul.
Will peace overcome history's constant wail?
Deny people their dignity and only hatred prevails,
While standing at the crossroads between heaven and hell,
Are the wounds far too deep for forgiveness to quell?
For both sides to find the redemption they seek,
And speak with one voice for an everlasting peace.
Excellent poem - it really does examine all sides but leaves the question for the reader to answer.
